But of That Day and Hour>

But of That Day and Hour Who Knows? This is a common response by those who yet believe Jesus’ second coming is future. This is a brief response to demonstrate why that reasoning does not follow. The view addressed here comes from a study citing Luke 21:34-35, as a day of uncertainty. The writer maintained that since those verses followed Luke 21:32, which clearly delineated the A.D. 70 fall or Jerusalem, then they must of necessity be speaking of a yet future unknown coming of the Lord.  The following is a partial reply.

Not Knowing the Day and Hour

Luke does not mention the phrase, “but of that day and hour no man knows” as does Matthew and Mark. That does not mean that the idea is not present in the text. Clarke correctly deduces the idea from the language of surprise suggested by the (more…)

Is the New Covenant Only for Judah and Israel?

Is the New Covenant only for Judah and Israel? Some believe so. They base their reasoning on the bible text which says God would make a new covenant.

“Behold finding fault with them, He says: “Behold the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.” (Heb. 8:6). Quoting from Jer. 31:31, Paul affirms the fulfillment of this prophecy in the soon to be completed New Covenant and consummation of the Old. By virtue of the new, the Old Covenant  was becoming obsolete. The time for its “vanishing away” drew near, (Heb. 8:13). It ended in 70 A.D., (Matthew 5:18; Lk. 21:20, 22, 32).

The backdrop of God’s promise to establish a new covenant with the houses of Israel and Judah, involved the cutting off of Israel (10 northern) tribes in 721 B.C. They committed idolatry under King Jeroboam. God cast them out of his sight, 2 Kings (more…)

Do the Egyptians Belong in Mount Zion?

Egyptians to worship in Mt Zion

Do the Egyptians belong in Mt. Zion? From the beginning of Covenant Israel’s history and quest for nationhood, a mixed multitude traveled with them from Egypt.  Moses was married to an Ethiopian. In the latter days Egypt and Israel’s relationship once again unite, not as master and slave but as brethren in the new temple keeping the Feasts of the Lord.

In the prophetic imagery of Zechariah 14, the nations share in the post parousia (coming of Christ) blessings of Israel.

“And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.

And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, on them there will be no rain.

If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, (more…)

Can End Time Beliefs Lead to Death?

mt-carmel-bldg-5

Can end time beliefs lead to death? Unfortunately, this question has already been answered. Some years ago, Branch Davidian Seventh-Day Adventsist Leaders saw the June 1967 Israeli-Arab War as a sign of the imminent end. Ben Roden interpreted Isaiah 31:5, “As birds flying so will the Lord defend Jerusalem,” as Israeli Jets which rendered Arab planes inoperable.

Here is a prime example of lifting a text out of context. God speaks about Judah trusting and seeking Egypt and their “horses” to save them from the Assyrians. However, God saves Hezekiah by destroying 185,000 of Sennacharib’s army by the angel of the Lord. See chapters (more…)

Did Christ Promise and Earthly Kingdom?

Christ's Kingdom Mission

Did Christ promise an earthly kingdom? One of the big deceptions of Dispensationalism is its teaching that Christ came to establish an earthly political kingdom. They see the modern Zionist Israel as a key player in the fulfillment of kingdom prophecy. Here are reasons from the scriptures why Christ’s kingdom is present, spiritual and non-political.

The Kingdom of God Is At Hand

Christ announced that his kingdom had drawn near. Citing Daniel, he preached the kingdom of God saying, “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe the gospel. (Mark 1:14-15) Daniel prophesied God’s time for the kingdom as the “days of these kings”, i.e. during the ancient Roman Empire, existing in the days of Christ. John the Baptist, preached during the reign of Tiberius (more…)

Gog and Magog Deceives the Nations

Acclaimed reporter and former Vietnam correspondent, Alan Hart, is the author of “Zionism The Real Enemy of the Jews, Volume One: The False Messiah. In the prologue  titled “Waiting for the Apocalypse, p. 26, he cites staff writer Jane Lampman’s report in (Monitorworld, March 6-12, 2004).

Her report headlined: THE END OF THE WORLD: THE DEBATE HEATS UP.  She wrote that “the interest in end-times prophecy has spread beyond their circles and is not only shaping people’s lives, but even influencing United States foreign policy. She referred to the minority of fundamentalist American Christians.

(CUFI) Christians United for Israel, lobbyist John Hagee’s video “Countdown to the Final End” lists his 10 reasons for believing that our generation will see the end of the world, even if it means a nuclear holocaust between the state of Israel and the Arab world. According to the back cover of his book, Jerusalem Countdown, such a catastrophe “will affect every person on planet earth.”

Many Christians, religious and non-Zionist Jews fear being labeled “anti-Semitic” for speaking out against the Zionist movement, (more…)

Two Witnesses Prophesy – Do Hagee’s 10 Road Signs Countdown to Armageddon?

Bible pages

The Two Witnesses

So far, we have completed a survey of the first five of the alleged “signs of the times” to the terminal generation. Each of them were shown to be without Biblical basis. America and the world is being sold a bag of plug nickel’s for Bible prophecy. It is so serious that those who do advocate blowing entire countries off the map with nuclear weapons, all “in the name of the Lord!”

In today’s lesson, “Two Witnesses Prophesy – Do Hagee’s 10 Road Signs Countdown to Armageddon?, we examine number 6 of the alleged 10 Road Signs to End Times, and further answer the question, Are We the Terminal Generation?” In other words are we living in the last days of a generation about to see Christ return to this earth and set up camp in Jerusalem of Palestine? As bluntly as we can be, no.

Now those strongly disagree have probably already stopped reading, so if you’re still here, it means that you at least (more…)

End Times Road Signs: When Were the Times of the Gentiles Fulfilled?

London 2005 Roman Solder

Times of the Gentiles

It is stated by some that Jerusalem will not be under Gentile rule in the terminal generation, a situation which had existed from A.D. 70 allegedly until the Six Day War of 1967.  This is an argument assumed to be based on the text found in Luke 21:24.

The verse says “And they shall all fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Today we respond to the fifth of Hagee’s 10 signs that we are headed for Armageddon with “End Times Road Signs: When Were the Times of the Gentiles Fulfilled?”

John Hagee’s Book Beginning of the End, Are We the Terminal Generation, (BOE) says that Gentile rule continued until the Six Day War of 1967.  Following this statement, he adds that David predicted the Lord would rebuild Zion and appear in his glory there, (Psalms 102:6). His objective is to show that after Gentile rule has ended and Israel sets up their own sovereign state having banished the indigenous population and government of Palestine, that Christ will then return to Zion.

We addressed the issue of when Christ returns relative to the inheritance above. Here, we examine the text of Luke 21:24 and the (more…)

10 Road Signs to Armageddon – Israel Returns to the Land Before or After the Messiah Comes?

The Land of Abraham's Sojourn

This is our fourth installment John Hagee’s 10 Road Signs to Armageddon where he says the Jews will return home. According to Hagee, since the A.D. 70 destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans and their dispersion, they were without a homeland until 1948. See “Beginning of the End,” p. 93.  He then cites Jeremiah 23:7-8, to prove that the Zionist’s seizure of land from the Palestinian Arabs fulfills Bible prophecy and prepares the way for the coming of  the Messiah? Here is our study for today: 10 Road Signs to Armageddon – Israel Returns to the Land Before or After the Messiah Comes?

Does Hagee have the cart before the horse? Does he have the tail wagging the dog? In other words, does the Bible promise the inheritance of the land before the Messiah comes, or after that event?  Hagee writes that Zionists have a biblical imperative to redeem the land. “Many religious Israelis are motivated by a biblical imperative to redeem the land of Israel for the Jews and (more…)

John Hagee – 10 Signs of the Final End, Are We The Terminal Generation?

John Hagee's Countdown to the End

Televangelist, John Hagee, Pastor of Cornerstone Baptist church in San Antonio, Texas and best selling author writes and speaks on Bible prophecy. In his Book, Beginning of the End, The Assassination of Yitzhak Rabin and the Coming Antichrist, he lists 10 reasons why our generation will see Christ’s return. In the following we survey John Hagee – 10 Signs of the Final End, Are We The Terminal Generation?

There appears to be no end to the numerous countdowns and endtime signs offered by modern day prophecy preachers. Every generation since the first have had their share of these grossly mistaken prophets. Hagee must join their ranks. Please understand, this is not a personal attack on the man. I do not know him and can only address what he writes and says about Bible prophecy. He is certainly very prominent and influential, and runs one of the most well organized Christian lobbies in the (more…)
