Jubilee - Acceptable Year of the Lord 70 AD

The Acceptable Year of the Lord. A major failure of end times prophecy teaching is the inability to make the transition from national geo-centric Israel to spiritual Christo-centric Israel.  It is the chief source from a biblical view for the support of Dispensational Zionism. Ultra-literalism describes their method of interpretation. Stephen Sizer points out that often when quoting texts, Dispensationalists supply their interpretation right in the text. (Zion’s Christian Soldier’s, p. 34)

For example, when Hal Lindsey writes of the holy place in Matthew 24:15, he adds the words [the rebuilt temple]. Yet, no where in verse 15 is there any indication of a rebuilt temple. In that verse, the subject is the destruction of Herod’s then existing temple of which Christ had just spoken particularly in (Matt. 23:37-38. 24:2). In other words, when using the gloves of scripture, “if it doesn’t fit, you must force it.”

The time for the fulfillment of the prophecy is the day of the Lord, i.e. in “that day.” When the day arrived God would sound the trumpet. Now, we ask, is this trumpet to be taken literally? If so, when did it sound? How did the nations as far away as Assyria (more…)

Can End Time Beliefs Lead to Death?

mt-carmel-bldg-5

Can end time beliefs lead to death? Unfortunately, this question has already been answered. Some years ago, Branch Davidian Seventh-Day Adventsist Leaders saw the June 1967 Israeli-Arab War as a sign of the imminent end. Ben Roden interpreted Isaiah 31:5, “As birds flying so will the Lord defend Jerusalem,” as Israeli Jets which rendered Arab planes inoperable.

Here is a prime example of lifting a text out of context. God speaks about Judah trusting and seeking Egypt and their “horses” to save them from the Assyrians. However, God saves Hezekiah by destroying 185,000 of Sennacharib’s army by the angel of the Lord. See chapters (more…)

Did Christ Promise and Earthly Kingdom?

Christ's Kingdom Mission

Did Christ promise an earthly kingdom? One of the big deceptions of Dispensationalism is its teaching that Christ came to establish an earthly political kingdom. They see the modern Zionist Israel as a key player in the fulfillment of kingdom prophecy. Here are reasons from the scriptures why Christ’s kingdom is present, spiritual and non-political.

The Kingdom of God Is At Hand

Christ announced that his kingdom had drawn near. Citing Daniel, he preached the kingdom of God saying, “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe the gospel. (Mark 1:14-15) Daniel prophesied God’s time for the kingdom as the “days of these kings”, i.e. during the ancient Roman Empire, existing in the days of Christ. John the Baptist, preached during the reign of Tiberius (more…)

10 Road Signs to Armageddon – Israel Returns to the Land Before or After the Messiah Comes?

The Land of Abraham's Sojourn

This is our fourth installment John Hagee’s 10 Road Signs to Armageddon where he says the Jews will return home. According to Hagee, since the A.D. 70 destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans and their dispersion, they were without a homeland until 1948. See “Beginning of the End,” p. 93.  He then cites Jeremiah 23:7-8, to prove that the Zionist’s seizure of land from the Palestinian Arabs fulfills Bible prophecy and prepares the way for the coming of  the Messiah? Here is our study for today: 10 Road Signs to Armageddon – Israel Returns to the Land Before or After the Messiah Comes?

Does Hagee have the cart before the horse? Does he have the tail wagging the dog? In other words, does the Bible promise the inheritance of the land before the Messiah comes, or after that event?  Hagee writes that Zionists have a biblical imperative to redeem the land. “Many religious Israelis are motivated by a biblical imperative to redeem the land of Israel for the Jews and (more…)

John Hagee – 10 Signs of the Final End, Are We The Terminal Generation?

Yitzhak Rabin, Bill Clinton, and Yasser Arafat...

John Hagee's Countdown to the End

Televangelist, John Hagee, Pastor of Cornerstone Baptist church in San Antonio, Texas and best selling author writes and speaks on Bible prophecy. In his Book, Beginning of the End, The Assassination of Yitzhak Rabin and the Coming Antichrist, he lists 10 reasons why our generation will see Christ’s return. In the following we survey John Hagee – 10 Signs of the Final End, Are We The Terminal Generation?

There appears to be no end to the numerous countdowns and endtime signs offered by modern day prophecy preachers. Every generation since the first have had their share of these grossly mistaken prophets. Hagee must join their ranks. Please understand, this is not a personal attack on the man. I do not know him and can only address what he writes and says about Bible prophecy. He is certainly very prominent and influential, and runs one of the most well organized Christian lobbies in the (more…)

Countdown to the Final End or A Miscalculation?

Eschatology Podcast

In his video posted at clipser.com, John Hagee lists 7 of his ten reasons the battle of Armageddon is imminent. In fact, two years ago, he said the coming of the Lord was so near that one could literally hear his footsteps shuffling along the clouds of heaven. Hmmm! Hold on, while I turn down my radio. Well, I’m not listening right now, and unless the FedEx plane flying over my house can be called a shuffle, I can’t hear it. Can you?  Is it a Countdown to the Final End or a Miscalculation?

Below are the seven reasons Hagee lists in the video as signs of the imminent end.

  1. Daniel prophesies that at the time of the end, knowledge shall be increased. This sounds pretty good on the surface. Especially when someone uses it to compare the secular, technical, and political knowledge of the 6th century B.C., with that of the world today. Is that prophecy or just plain old common sense? Could not anyone have foretold that common knowledge would increase. In fact, I can prophesy that 2600 years from today technology, science, mathematical, health, social and political knowledge etc will all advance beyond where it is today. What society has ever witnessed any different over time. If that is a sign of the end, it could have happened at any interval of past history. We suggest that two major errors in the (more…)

What Does God Say About the Regathering of Israel?

Jacob Wrestling with the Angel

Regathering of Israel

The regathering of Israel begins with God’s prophecy to Abraham. “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3).

The prophecy is expanded through the Patriarchs, particularly through Jacob, in his farewell address to his sons. What Does God Say About the Regathering of Israel?

Concerning Judah, he says,  The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to him shall be the obedience of the people.” (Gen. 49:10).

In other words, the scepter of power or the kingdom remained with Judah until Christ returned to gather the people in (more…)

Is Matthew 25 and the Ten Virgins Fulfilled Bible Prophecy?

Yola

Matthew 25, Ten Virgins

As the old saying goes, each day you live, you learn something. In a recent conversation with a very kind gentleman from Nigeria, we discussed the ministry and work Holy Spirit in the absence of Christ.

Naturally, for those who really understand eschatology, that subject leads to a discussing the parable of the 10 virgins. Is Matthew 25 and the Ten Virgins Fulfilled Bible Prophecy? The Holy Spirit’s work is undeniable eschatological, (Joel 2:28-30; Acts 2:16-20).

Somewhere in this discussion on pneumatology, we ventured into last things in a most surprising manner. The 5 wise virgins were accused by this gentleman of being selfish because they would not share their oil. I thought, (more…)
