Christian prophecy is a misnomer of sorts, a name used to describe prophecies of the Old Testament reiterated in the New. Yes, there are many claiming to have a prophetic gift today
complete with the ability to foretell the future. Yet, the future or prophecy in theĀ New Testament was not far-sighted but near-sighted. In other words, all prophecy looked forward to that which was soon-to-come-to-pass. (Phi. 4:5; James 5:7-8, 1 Pet. 4:7, 17, Rev. 1:1-3). Olivet Discourse: Has the Kingdom of God Arrived? Matthew, Mark and Luke, all record the Olivet Discourse. However, only one explicitly mention the coming of the kingdom of God. While all gospels speak of the coming kingdom, only Luke connected it with Jesus' address on the Mount of Olives.
The kingdom is the reign of God in men's hearts. Luke recorded Jesus' words that during the Roman conflagration of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, the kingdom would be near. "So likewise you, when you see all these things, know that the kingdom of God has drawn near."

Is America complicit in Shedding Innocent Blood? One of the charges God made against the ancient nation of Israel was that their hands were defiled with blood and their fingers with iniquity. How do we understand eschatology versus teleology? Eschatology focuses on the end of prophetic events. It relates to what is temporal. The word means the study of last things. In this definition, the judgment, the resurrection, the parousia, and the end of the world comes to mind.
Teleology is the study of ultimate purpose or design. To help one understand the difference, you may ask? What is the ultimate pupose of bringing all things to an end? The answer to that question is teleological.
