Victory of the Redeemed – Zechariah 3

Arkhangelsk (Arkhangelsk oblast), coat of arms...

Victory of the Redeemed - Zechariah 3"

The Victory of the Redeemed, Zechariah 3. At the time of the writing of Zechariah, God’s people were in trouble. Satan stood at the right hand of Joshua the high priest to oppose him. He sought to condemn the people of God. However, Joshua stood before (in the presence of) the Angel of the Lord.

The reason Satan sought to condemn Joshua (representative of the righteousness remnant of Israel) derived from verse 3 of Zechariah 3. Joshua, clothed with filthy garments declared their sinful condition. In offering the “blood of bulls and goats” he could effect no lasting cleansing and thereby righteousness through them, (Heb. 10:1-4). Mere shadows of the coming redemption in Christ, they failed to atone.

Objection Overruled!

Satan knew this and sought to cash in early on his winnings. However, the Angel of the Lord intervenes. Rather than attack Satan, he replies. “The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire? Meaning, the remnant being spared destruction in (more…)

Are Problems with Preterism Imaginary Born of Fear and Ignorance?

The Siege and Destruction of Jerusalem by the ...

A Day Known Only to the Lord

In view of some recent podcasts attacking the preterist position of eschatology, we want to address some of the fears and misinformation being disseminated.  Are problems with Preterism imaginery ideas born of fear and ignorance? Listening to some futurist eschatology podcasts and examining their writings one would think so. However, it’s always best to hear both sides of the story.

Preterism is now being defined and tagged as “extreme preterism” and “moderate preterism”,and even sometimes is styled “hyper preterism” versus “partial preterism.” There are other names but the purpose here is to present some distinction between the concepts above. By “extreme or hyper- preterism,” those who strongly disagree use inflammatory and (more…)

Does Matthew 24:31, Present a Dilemma for Partial Preterist Kenneth Gentry?

The Destruction of Jerusalem by Titus

Kenneth Gentry, a reformed scholar and partial preterist has written some great books and held debates that have been helpful to ongoing studies and debates about eschatology. However, his books are not without contradictions. It is my observation that Gentry cannot successfully debate a true Preterist or a Dispensationalist from a partial preterist perspective simply because of those inconsistencies, which by the way Dr. Thomas Ice, a Dispensationalist pointed out in their debate on the Great Tribulation.

Does Matthew 24:31 present a dilemma for partial preterist Kenneth Gentry? While offering compelling arguments on behalf of his partial preterist position, many of those same arguments were an impaling sword turned against him negating the effectiveness of his attempt to refute Dispensationalism, a position we also reject. In an interview, about Preterism posted on YouTube.Com, Dr. Gentry offers comments on what he chooses to style as “hyperpreterism.” Although he admits that one (more…)

Preterism is False, Is it True or False?

The Descent of the Holy Spirit in a 15th centu...

A few professors associated with Liberty
University are beginning to panic over
Preterism.

Preterism is False, Is it True or False?, is a
reply to objections raised by panicking
Dispensationalists. Preterism is a Latin
term which means past.

From the perspective of Bible prophecy,
it refers to all end times events as having
been fulfilled in the past. It is the opposite
of futurism, which holds those events to be yet to come in the future.

Are These Practical Implications of Preterism Practical?

This is our last in the critique of Dr. Edward
Hinson’s article referred to in previous posts.
He lists several items as implications.

We ask, Are These Practical Implications of
Preterism Practical?

Most of these are commonly believed by all futurists as serious (more…)

Does America Need Change, Obama or the Rapture?

In an article by Rapture Ready writer Jack Kelley, the
question is raised, how would Jesus vote? The
undertones of the article subtly suggests that
Jesus would proudly be a “conservative” Republican.

There is a political and religious bias that somehow
believes that to vote Democratic is both ungodly
and unChristian. Wonder how an independent’s
faith is classified?

The Rapture Ready scribe argues that America
was founded as a Christian nation. Well at least
we can say it “professed” to be.

Were these the same “born again” Christians who
claimed land belonging to American Indians as their
own? What Biblical principle did this uphold? Thou
shalt steal? Thou shalt covet?

So, if you want your neighbors land, just shoot him
and move his family on a vacant lot and call it a
reservation! Reserved until when and for whom?
The Rapture? How is that righteousness?

If an alien from Mars landed on earth today and planted
a flag on the White house lawn claiming they discovered
a new nation while Africans who had arrived in American
before them navigated the space ship, by what logic or
Christian principle would America belong to the Martians?

So, the native Americans were discovered by aliens
and that makes it right in the sight of God! Does
America Need Change, Obama or the Rapture?

What Is the Last Days Significance of the Gift of Tongues?

I can remember the first time ever I was exposed
to a Pentecostal church where people claimed to
speak in tongues.

After the charismatic preacher worked everyone
into a frenzy, several men and women in the
congregation began chanting ecstatically with
an unrecognizable language.

I felt weird, not knowing what to do. I was about
20 years old at the time and saw young and old
engaging in this practice.

They explained they were speaking in tongues and
had the “Holy Ghost” and said that if a person did
not speak in tongues they were not saved. Further,
they claimed to have other gifts of the Spirit which
enabled them to exorcise demons and heal the sick.

I wanted to know more about this phenomenon but
did not learn the truth about it all until 1979, about
5 years later.

In discovering this truth, I found that the idea of
tongue-speaking was related to the last days and
judgment. What is the last days significance of the
the gift of tongues?

What is the Meaning of the End of the Age in Eschatology?

What is the end of the age in Matthew 28:20? Does this mean Jesus
is no longer with us after the events of 70AD?

It is commonly assumed by those who oppose the full preterist view
that Matthew 28:20, is a reference to the end of the planet versus the
end of the Jewish age. In all 5 occurrences where this phrase is found,
it means the end of the Jewish age.

First, we will cite the texts, make a comment or two, then expose the
illogical implication behind the question.

The phrase “sunteleia tou aionos” occurs 5 times in the N.T. Matt. 13:39, 40,
24:3, 28:20 and Heb. 9:26.

Each time it is used, Jesus referred to it as “this” age, meaning the one in which
he then lived. See Matt. 12:31. He always referred to the future (Christian) age,
as the ‘age to come.’ By that, I mean the age future to the one in which he then
lived.

We should have no doubt that Matthew 24:3, speaks of the Jewish age. Also,
Hebrews 9:26, demonstrates that Jesus was put to death in the end of the age.
That likewise must be the Jewish age. Note that it does not say at the “end” of
the end of the age, thus not in A.D. 70.

Now, the issue before us is to identify the end of the age in the text in
question, Matthew 28:20. (more…)

Is Preterism’s Timing of the Resurrection in Eschatology Important?

Many would like to make the subject of the resurrection a matter
of the nature of the resurrection body only. While it is valid to
address and identify the nature of the resurrection body, it is also
valid to address Preterism’s timing of the resurrection in eschatology
if futurists and other rapture ready advocates expect to build a
convincing case.

“When Shall These Things Be” edited by Keith A. Mathison a book that
sought to address the major issues of the preterit view with the hope
of convincingly refuting them, Robert Strimple had these comments
on the issue of time and resurrection.

“Obviously an orthodox Christian response to hyper-preterism must
address the prophetic “time texts” of the New Testament…” , p 290.

Strimple however passes on that attempt, trusting that the editor has
done an adequate job. However, it seems that this impressive line up of
authors did not take the time to read and fully understand the
implications and ramifications of what they had written previously
on the subject of time.

In other words, Kenneth Gentry, Jr. and Keith Mathison, use the very
same text to teach the exact opposite views. This seriously impacts
Strimple’s assumptions on the nature of the resurrection body.
It eats the heart out of his more desirable “methodology” approach. (more…)

What Is Realized Eschatology?

The subject of realized eschatology has quickly gained ground
in the end time discussions of the day. It means that all things
related to end time Bible prophecy are fulfilled.

The proper meaning of Bible prophecy is found by looking in the
past rather then in the future. This view is very controversial.
It is often met with shouts of heresy! Some would be burned at the
stake if the more radical futurists had their way.

Realized eschatology, also known as preterism or full preterism
continues to grow at a rapid pace. What are the major advantages
of this view compared to others? There are five components that
answer this question. (more…)
