Did Christ Promise and Earthly Kingdom?

Christ's Kingdom Mission

Did Christ promise an earthly kingdom? One of the big deceptions of Dispensationalism is its teaching that Christ came to establish an earthly political kingdom. They see the modern Zionist Israel as a key player in the fulfillment of kingdom prophecy. Here are reasons from the scriptures why Christ’s kingdom is present, spiritual and non-political.

The Kingdom of God Is At Hand

Christ announced that his kingdom had drawn near. Citing Daniel, he preached the kingdom of God saying, “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe the gospel. (Mark 1:14-15) Daniel prophesied God’s time for the kingdom as the “days of these kings”, i.e. during the ancient Roman Empire, existing in the days of Christ. John the Baptist, preached during the reign of Tiberius (more…)

End Times Road Signs: When Were the Times of the Gentiles Fulfilled?

London 2005 Roman Solder

Times of the Gentiles

It is stated by some that Jerusalem will not be under Gentile rule in the terminal generation, a situation which had existed from A.D. 70 allegedly until the Six Day War of 1967.  This is an argument assumed to be based on the text found in Luke 21:24.

The verse says “And they shall all fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Today we respond to the fifth of Hagee’s 10 signs that we are headed for Armageddon with “End Times Road Signs: When Were the Times of the Gentiles Fulfilled?”

John Hagee’s Book Beginning of the End, Are We the Terminal Generation, (BOE) says that Gentile rule continued until the Six Day War of 1967.  Following this statement, he adds that David predicted the Lord would rebuild Zion and appear in his glory there, (Psalms 102:6). His objective is to show that after Gentile rule has ended and Israel sets up their own sovereign state having banished the indigenous population and government of Palestine, that Christ will then return to Zion.

We addressed the issue of when Christ returns relative to the inheritance above. Here, we examine the text of Luke 21:24 and the (more…)

Blessed Are the Meek For They Shall Inherit the Earth?

Lion and Lamb in the Kingdom

Just thinking about the beatitudes brings back memories of my mother and our family meals, especially on Sundays. Born the middle child of nine, we each sat around the table eager to share our meal whether breakfast or dinner. However, our mother had one rule, not one morsel of bread until we each had said our grace.

That meant reciting at least one of the beatitudes. Sometimes to help speed the process along, we’d look for the shortest verse, like “Jesus wept.” But in most cases it was always special to cite one of the beautitudes. It showed a certain “refinement of culture” in our home.

So, we got to know those first seven of the eight beatitudes in Matthew quite well. But after I became interested in (more…)

Mary Mary, Quite Contrary, How Does Your Kingdom Garden Grow?

kingdom_garden1

Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary, How Does Your Kingdom Garden Grow? No doubt, we all

remember at least parts of our

nursery rhymes from kindergarten and elementary school. I missed out on kindergarten by starting school a year early. Today, I understand that they make students wait an entire year if their 6th birthday falls after the school year begins.

So, what does nursury rhymes have to do with the kingdom? Well, it asks a very legitimate question. “How does your garden grow? It’s important to undertand principles of gardening when speaking about the kingdom. However, if one (more…)

Why Did Paul Finish the Kingdom Preaching He Never Started?

Did Paul Finish the Kingdom Race?

With many people, they have a
problem finishing what they start.

However, I don’t recall knowing
to many people who finish what
they don’t start.

Why did Paul finish the kingdom
preaching he never started? What
do I mean?

Well, if you have checked out the our most recent posts, you know that we have been tracking Paul’s “kingdom” preaching in Acts.

Efforts are underway to undermine the “preaching of the kingdom of

Are You Thirsting for Righteousness in the Kingdom of Heaven?

A Torah scroll.

Are you thirsting for righteousness in the
kingdom of heaven? Many are. Many are
unsure. Many answer yes and no.

For example, if we were to ask this question
from the perspective of Matthew 5:6, how
would you answer?

Bless are those who hunger and thirst for
righteousness, for they shall be filled.

No doubt, many would say, yes, Christ brought us righteousness through his death, burial and resurrection and the

When Would God Restore the Kingdom to Israel?

Times and Seasons

We continue our response to the arguments
raised by Dr. Hinson’s article, the New Last
Days Scoffers, published in the May 2005
issue of The National Liberty Journal.

This writing answers the question of When
Would God Restore the Kingdom to Israel?

The question assumes that God is finished
with Israel. We discussed that particular
issue in the previous post, regarding
Romans 11.

These are merely straw man arguments which are assumed to be (more…)

Is the Kingdom of God Present on Earth?

Kingdom of God.

Kingdom of God

Is the kingdom of God present on earth?
Perhaps you would ask why, if there is so
much evil in this world would anyone
think that God’s kingdom is here?

Or, how could God be reigning over men
while we yet live on earth? It seems we
have a world that has lost sight of the
unseen.

Perhaps only in the world of religion and
personal development (which is a practical
outworking of religion) do people give
more value to the existence of invisible
realities.

Will Babies Play with Cobras in the Kingdom?

Photo of the Book of Isaiah page of the Bible

For many it is difficult to understand
the nuances of Bible prophecy, especially
when much of it is couched in figurative
language.

One of the first courses we had in my
Bible studies training was D.R. Dungan’s
Hermeneutics.

Hermeneutics is the science of interpretation,
particularly, that of interpreting Bible texts.

A problematic prophecy for many is Isaiah
chapter 11. Many deny that it is fulfilled
because they have not witnessed with
their eyes, the “nursing child” putting
its hand in the cobra’s den.

Who Is the Ancient of Days in Daniel 7?

Rabbula Gospels, Eusebian Canons

Image via Wikipedia

Daniel 7, a hotbed for eschatological theorizing,
continues to baffle commentators, past and
present.

The solution to the identity of the Ancient of
Days is in my opinion, one that is without
controversy.

The most common designation this obviously
Divine character is God himself. This view
largely stems from the reading of the text.

Variant renderings are:

The Son of Man comes to the Ancient of Days
The Son of Man comes as the Ancient of Days

In the first rendering the Father is meant. In
the second it refers to the Son. Can we solve
this debate of Who is the Ancient of Days in
Daniel 7?
