First Corinthians 15 Consequence of Jesus' Death

We continue our study of 1 Corinthians 15 to focus on the death of which Paul speaks in the chapter. A common view is that he refers to physical death and a resurrection of our physical bodies at some time future to us.
In our first lessons, we demonstrated that the chapter introduces the subject by referring to sin death. Our aim in this series of writings is to determine whether Paul maintains that focus throughout the chapter.

First Corinthians 15 and the Dead Ones

In this our third installment on First Corinthians 15, we examine the dead ones, a major motif in the chapter but, to determine the nature of the death we continue with further investigation.
We have looked at the first section in determining the purpose of Jesus' death. We've also looked at the background in Hosea chapter six. Both of those led us to the trail of sin-death as the subject of Paul in the earlier verses of the chapter.

In the previous study, we began by addressing the question of whether First Corinthians focuses on physical or spiritual death. We suggested from the text of 1 Cor. 15:1-4 that the message of Christ dying for our sins is the starting point for the investigation. In this study, we offer further support for that premise by examining the source of Paul's quotation.
